Yvonne and John were a quiet, unassuming couple who found us on A Practical Wedding. She was going to be starting up at UC Berkeley just before the wedding, and knew they needed a helping hand in the weeks leading up to the wedding. We had our first meeting in a small coffee shop in SF, and I instantly knew we had to be part of this sweet couple's big day! It was a DIY-heavy wedding with contributions from friends and family. Flowers were put together by friends, the fabulous emcee was also a friend, and Yvonne put together their mini terrarium favors by hand. Not only were the details oh-so-pretty with spunky details (black nail polish and Ice Climber cake toppers!), but Y & J had a strong foundation of shared faith and inclusion underlying every moment (ceremony communion and goodie bags for kids and paper crane folding for guests).
On a beautiful Indian summer day, the picture perfect ceremony was held under the redwoods in the Redwood Grove at the UC Botanical Gardens, followed by an elegant reception at the Berkeley City Club with flipbook fun and board games. Laughter and smiles defined the whole day. Thank you for letting us be a part of such a meaningful event!
